New Morning by Xzcouter is a wonderfully composed fractal with bold colors and interesting textures.  The technical complexity to this fractal, particularly in the moon, sun, and sun rays, really transforms the entire fractal into a rich and vibrant scene. ( Featured by ChaosFissure )

Love the color palette in this piece and how simplistic yet detailed its executed! :D I was wondering how did you create that wavy-line texture where the sun rays hit? it gives a nice touch to the image :)

Thanks :)

I am honestly not all too sure but I believe its because of how at high gamma the linear forms solid colors until something overlays them. I did alot of tricks with opacity to help me layer things out and this is what I got which I am pretty proud of :)

The moon shape is something I've seen in a few pieces of your artwork.  I'm curious -- both this and the sun rays, are you assembling shapes in post, or are these in the raw fractal itself?

Both the moon shape and sun rays are done in the fractal software itself :D

So far I haven't really done anything post.

That's pretty crazy XD  I'd love to see the fractal setup for that!

Haha xD.

Hmm haven't really done a tutorial before haha.
The moon is actually just PDJ (if I remember a,b,c and d is 0.5, 2, 2, 0 but I tend to play around the values alot but this works when the iterator has no to or from weights but it gives a very flat color) with post poincare and pre blur.

One time I made it so the linear iterators linked to the pdj but still no from pdj and it gave me more colors on the moon (look at Kudoclasm) but it needed to be edited it to have a low base weight plus link it to another transfer which had gaussian and tweaked a,b,c and d into.-0.05, 0.6,0.6,0 I still do not know the technical stuff behind it but so far this is what I got from experimenting with it haha. Sorry if I am all over the place xD. I think I should just give you the xml code or something.

The sun rays is pi with a post gaussian blur if I remember and it is not linked to anything at all. This was the only time I used it wanted to experiment.

Would love to make a tutorial on the moon as its not really all too complicated and I like to add it unto my sky fractals haha.

The way i made it so the rays does not overlay everything is I made some iterators have a really high opacity and the pi iterator has a really low one.It works best with high gamma fractals.

I move and rotate them around using post affine.

Just some experimenting haha.

Ahhhh so just magic with linked iterators allowing for the separation.  I'm still learning that stuff and have started using it in my own work recently XD

Haha yeah. It tends to get tedious but I love doing it cause it adds the small detail to pull a piece together.

It is a fractal. All my work are fractals.
If you want I can give you the xml.

Made it in Chaotica.
